Poem

I must keep my mind open wide,
as I know not the final score,
and take the days within my stride,
whilst I wait for ever more.

I found someone who expanded my heart,
my desires, my needs and my plans,
I do not know if we will stay apart,
and she makes me a better man.

I still smile while she infects my mind,
even though I'm filled with tears,
for she is sweet, beautiful and kind,
and I waited for her many years.

I pine and yearn just to see her now,
it burns and tears me to shreds,
I leave a space, it's hers somehow,
every night within my bed.

I must have hope, I must stay calm,
for true love can never just die,
optimistic scope to hold her in my arms,
although I discover naught when I scry.

I feel a hollow emptiness,
emerging from my head and chest,
but I have faith so I must digress,
to the fact she is truly the best.

If I am wrong and she does not come back,
I will never take another,
she is my song, my muse, my heart attack,
she was my perfect lover.

I held too tight and she could not breathe,
this fact between us goes unspoken,
if she does not return then I truly believe,
that this world is utterly broken.

I keep my mind open wide,
Though I know not the final score,
but my misery is very hard to hide,
while I wait for ever more.
