Poem
You, Me, and Destiny I As a child, I learned to fear, As the future slowly comes near. Foolishly, I try to dodge destiny, But he is a judgmental man who speaks to me. To my mother, And my father: As I learned to pick up my feet and walk, I knew you’d love me no matter how I talk. Whether I was an early bird or a late bloomer, Every second with you makes up my forever. To my sister, And my brother: No matter what I choose to say, I’ll always love you so, Even when Destiny paves our paths and shows us where to go. But in the future, even if we come to hate each other, You’ll always be my big sister and brother. To every friend, I’ll have until the end: All of you are precious to me, and I wish I could show you; Even those friends who I’ll never see again, this is for you too. You have helped me build my sidewalk, which stretches on, So good luck to you, even when I’m gone. To everyone who knows me, And everyone that I see: I hope that I have done everything I can to make you happy, And I hope you all know how much you mean to me. Even that man I loved, who is watching me as I go, I still remember you and your face, you know. Dear Destiny: Though you are a cruel man who decides the future for everyone, I will not fear you, even when that time comes. The future is mine to make and mine alone, I won’t hesitate to change what is set into stone.
