Poem
"A treason of the heart" "The news came violently like a bullet to the chest, Who do I call, what do I do? When only my mother knows best. I look in the mirror and it's you that I see, So striking, so beautiful So much better than me. Your heart, big enough to fill a room, Your laughter, intoxicating Just like your perfume. A disease with a name that should not be spoken, A connection, a bond that cannot be broken- I will stay with you and hold you and brush your hair, reminiscing of our time without a worry or care. You taught me to be strong, how to love and understand. How to be a woman, a wife, a friend. And more. You taught me that everything happens for a reason, That time and place exist only for a season. But not this, not now, not when I need you the most. Not when our lives, our hearts have become so close. There is only one explanation of this situation we are in, It's treason, its blasphemy, it's a cardinal sin. I will shun it, shame it, denounce it. I will smash it, break it, throttle it to the floor. I will sing triumphantly in its face! Scream "Victory" aloud as if it were a race. For I know deep down, that this mother of mine, Cannot, will not, shall not decline, She will not walk "into the dying of the light", She will not, cannot with all her might. This disease, its name, that will not be spoken, Our connection, our bond that will never be broken." By "A daughter"
