If the waves 
the shore stored
parted for a new Moses,
I'd fissure these hearts
composed of stone
beneath flash floods
blue, bolts
incarcerated
in your chaos order.

Absence makes
the fall much stronger,
months I hate
they undulate
transfigure blindness
still subtler
until my mind goes we're back to the prologue
where we first meet,
where you smile at me and can't stop laughing,
and for the first time in years,
I feel hopeful again.

I failed to see
who hovered above you. Who still does.
Friend of a friend.

On a moon-clad night
I hop on one foot
and wear the face of a breakdown.
Rain dances are fun! I shriek.
But you hate the rain.
Soulmates are a cruel lie. Take it from me.

Scream out all the water in your lungs.
Please let me mop up those tears
and be the golden dawn you've always longed for.

Etch into my soul
the fact of no me no you,
give me hell because it's true:
welcoming water
waves of water
think for me
my thoughts black out
cigarette cancer figure it out
ink blood
waving by itself
Goodbye, I am no longer
black waves
summertime fades
burnout grenades of my arms
unfurling green light liquors
and ten talons aimed at the offensive son
to part the Purple Sea.
