This is the Second in a series that I wrote for my son a few years back. I wrote the first and he asked for more. I think they got a little better with each one, but am also a little biased. Hope you enjoy..... Walter II: Walter's Misadventure Today is a day that won’t soon be forgotten, It started off well but quickly turned rotten. Unbeknownst to poor Walter; his journey would start, With little boy Joey pulling him around in a cart. He’s usually not bothered about rides in toy cars, But this one was bigger, and was out in the yard! It bounced over stones and slipped through the grass, And he looked to the left at the pond they just passed! He thought of the water; deep, dark and cool, And knew that he had to get into that pool. A plan quickly developed, there’s no way it could fail; He hadn’t been free since he lost his tail. He coiled himself up and got ready to jump, But just at his moment the wagon went… Bump! As he flew through the air the frog was surprised To see what was coming, so he closed his scared eyes. The jolt had moved the place he wanted to land To a big thorny rose bush instead of the sand. He dropped into branches, and got horribly stuck. That the little boy spied him, was his only luck. So Joey reached out to get his little green friend, And promised that he wouldn’t let that happen again. And took Walter back in where his little heart sank, At the thought of again being confined to his tank. But Walter the Bullfrog learned a lesson indeed; For in spite of the fact that he almost got free, And would try again at the next chance he found, Joey’s love for his buddy would forever be bound!
