Who’s To Blame?

Did you ever get the blame,
For a crime you didn’t commit?
Did you rant and rave,
Scream for justice
Or quietly submit?

Are you more a man than Adam
Who when found taking from the tree..
Acted like the little boy
Who shrieks ‘It wasn’t me!’

Knowing he was guilty,
He tried to shift the blame,
Forgetting his responsibility
In an effort to hide his shame.

Much like Saul who did the same
To his own men at Amalek
Not wanting accountability
He sought only to save his own neck.

Or are you more like Joseph
Who when falsely accused of rape
Waited silently in a prison cell
For Jehovah to provide escape

Do you resemble David,
Who when hounded by the King
Never sought to retaliate
But entrusted his God with everything.

Is your love enough that you
Can take the blame for others?
If not, then how is it you say
‘I’d give my life for my brothers!’

There was once a man
Who lived a life
Without a single error.
Such a man could acquire
For himself much power
And rule with a hand of terror.

But rather he chose
To serve the weak
Forsaking this world’s pleasure
Giving up that perfect life for us
With a love that knows no measure.

And when they nailed him
High upon the stake
It was no cause for sorrow
For he took the blame
From Adam’s sin
To the ones we’ll make tomorrow.

And as he died in agony
Did he shift the blame upon you?
No, but he said, “Father forgive them
For they don’t know what they do”
