Poem
Mist of the morning obscuring the dawn; The veil of my conscious darkening my ken. A battle ensues; the gods drawing their blades; Gentle zephyrs ease the mist out to sea. A strange arena of secrets morphing into a dream; Behold, an eerie melody, echoing thru the environs. I command you my love come talk with me; Alea of the mist, I beg you to please - answer my plea - And, sit with me in my contemplation of uncertainty. Stroke my hair with your steamy tendrils of love; Envelope me in your miasma of adoration. I have come here before and met you with my eyes, Like a dream-nightmare from which I can't escape. I feel your gentle caress and wisp of a touch; Your silence fuels my desire, as Your presence beckons and I feel your pain. Yet I know when the fortunes command, you will float away, Mocking the bitter wind that hastens your retreat. You are more than I've ever wanted and far greater than I've ever dreamed; Your love is as boundless as the universe is forever. Why do you tease me and taunt me With fickle suggestions of unearthly desire? You are like the shadow I can never hold; You're like the angels I envisage in the crevices of the clouds. There are times when I imagine you aren't even real; A dimensional illusion that baffles reality. The obvious transcends the ken of mortal intellect, and Your corporeal presence beguiles my earthly senses. I wait ever so patiently for reciprocation, My life hanging like the threads of Dali hands. There is before me the reality of a strange ephemeral plane; A surreal dimension at odds with the mind. Even the air is bent and waves of distortion, Warily warn me that this isn't happening - Madness is gripping my soul! At that very moment, I see you standing, In the doorway of a place I'll never approach. Your body is blurred yet I make out the image Of the most beautiful countenance. I can't move... I am held in place by something I'm at odds to explain; Seeing you moving through a delicate portal...an image I can't describe My foundation is rocked by an unearthly mist; As my sky turns a brilliant cerulean blue. My beautiful Alea - you lay vanquished by the fog; You are gone... I cry. My body is given to uncontrollable tremors and I fall to the ground in bitter remorse, for I know I shall never again be blessed with one Of such beauty and wisdom, and enigmatic love.
