Poem
No More Sorrow When the lady professor left this earth, her hobbled friends wondered what she was worth, Was she good or was she bad and why is her screwed up family not sad? We know she cheated on her spouse but then again he was a petty louse. Was she as rich as people said? But they wouldn’t know till the will was read. They gathered and chatted about her illustrious teaching and headed out to discuss her annoying preaching. The men in black were there, and one told me about his secret affair. And the family men, smoking in the church lobby, talked about sports and their latest hobby. The children ran around at will, like little bugs the mourners wanted to kill. Her youngest son told me “mom never ended a sentence with “at” and loved no human better than her cat”. Her favorite daughter recalled that her mother never lied and always had the bible by her side. The widower was a true non believer who kind of reminded me of good old Ward Cleaver. I talked to him, he showed no sadness, and to his daughter who lit up with horrific gladness. No one appeared to show any sorrow, only talk about a better tomorrow. I talked to the oldest son named after his father but after a while I felt like a bother. An elderly cousin asked me how I knew the deceased and I told her I met her at a holy feast. She and the preacher laughed and told me there should be no more sorrow and not to worry until tomorrow.
