Poem

gone to bed hoping it's the last
but morning arrives and still the ache
only existing not really living
day after day continues on
wishing it would stop the torture
that mows this life to shreds
broken and tattered without recourse
feelings submerged in an abyss 
of a brain so cluttered and remiss
of any other emotion but sadness and hurt
demons inside relishing their conquest
monsters don't sleep under this bed
they sleep and live in this head
wear that smile that's not believed
all the while there's only screams
scared to get close, scared to be alone
long for a feeling to not feel at all
the higher to go the lower to sink
cant drown those demons they know how to swim
those demons hidden you cannot see
those demons hidden are inside of me
heart awakens to none but sorrow
thunderous storms within for tomorrow
looking and searching for something new
nothing perceived save a demon in view
