My Companion Of Long Ago

Soon we will meet again
 Because I am going home
 I can't wait to see her
 Whose banks I once did roam
 Whose blue liguid
 I swam in as a child free of care
 I wonder has she changed much
 And I hope not
 Will she recognize me 
 When I get there
 Will she recall the time I almost drowned
 When she guided my hand
 To grasp a crack in the pier
 At Farran's Point Canal
 In our riverside town
 Where I skipped stones
 Across her ripples
 And watched my brother's ships 
 As they sailed through
 And I rode on the gates as they opened
 An illegal thing to do
 Will she afford me
 The pleasure of sunbathing
 Nude amid her gentle wave
 Has she yet the golden voice 
 Only sailors have heard
 Will she woo me as I bathe
 Are the fish as plentiful
 In her keeping
 And will she give some up to me
 Catfish were so delicious
 And her specialty
