Poem
As I walk among the ever changing times... And across the withered cement outlining properties... It becomes increasingly harder for me, To distinguish if the path I walk... Is really as straight and narrow as people say... Or if it is much wider, With more curves and bumps... I continually struggle to cross over. The beauty of life... Of capturing the very essence we perceive... Is that it is different for everyone... And it can flow as smooth and calm as... the sea on a starless night... Or it can flow as rough and harsh as... The ocean caught tumbling in a storm; If life were to be made corporeal... and everything within, Was essential to is continued existence ... The very nature and personality of it... Would take our breathes away infinitely... Until a poetic mind or graceful artist... May show it to us that which Stole our breath in the first place.... And return it to our souls If you were to see the world... Through the eyes of this young poetic mind, You would see the world as thousands of Metaphors being spat out like bingo marbles... Or millions of unseen possibilities to be captured... In ways that make the invisible... Visible to those without the sight Rivers would be the arteries, That keep the essence of life flowing... The wind would be the blood... Continuously pumping through our hearts... Allowing us to gracefully dance our way around this earth The trees caught in summer and spring breezes, Would be a mother natures' hands... Reaching out to her children... In times of need The ground in which we all walk upon... Would be the skin, protecting... And encompassing our vitals... So as to guarantee everything, Is where it is intended to be As I walk upon the uneven earth, My toes sinking deeper and deeper, Into the earth as I become more at one, I see the beauty in everyday life As I walk past oak trees... Still standing after nearly a century, I feel its life energy pulsing into the ground... through my feet and into my heart As I walk around a town I once called home, I notice that is seems more empty than I remember, It's a once lived in town, That's currently vacant With any and all energy and youthfulness As I walk the darkened streets... Illuminated by dimming street lights... I listen to the music pounding in my head, Drowning out the feeling of sorrow, In order to fill myself with peace As I walk the beaten path, And journey deeper with every step, I realize I can retreat to nature always, No matter how bad things might get
