Poem
You were beautiful, sweet, kind; Reassuring of your conviction. Trepidation ringing in my mind I focused on your profession. I tried us both to cajole, convince, If I showed you a kingdom of gold, I could be your shining prince, And watch our dreams unfold. I searched, struggled, and drove For panacea elusive; bejeweled. An intricate and faulty tale I wove Over the crumbling house I ruled. Sadly, little did I realize Instead of rescuing, enriching; Never grasping the real prize, My illusion was more bewitching. So, instead of bliss replete A nightmare invaded my slumber. Expectation gave way to defeat For reality had my number. Tired and mangled, you were Crying out in emotive agony. I awoke from my awful stupor Not your man but your enemy! Grief, overwhelming and fierce. My eyes burning with tears, Sorrow my heart did pierce, Knowing I epitomized my fears. "I never loved you, Mistake. I am alive. You’re dead. No more hopes; they’re fake. Just like us and our bed!" "You hurt me and used me. Oh, now it’s my turn! Today, from you I’m free. So let your feelings burn!” Your words cut us asunder Or were we ever together? Spells of lies we were under. Lo, simply a fate-less ether. Yes, you meant to leave me. Had your commitment waned? Maybe you never meant "we?" Well, your love is no longer feigned. Now, I stand alone again; Scarred, bruised but not beaten. Not solo, with a true Friend; Forbidden fruit not eaten. With no earthly fortune; a pauper, But heavenly royalty in the making. I’m a healing man and proper With faith and love not shaking. True love is never fleeting. Grace and truth aren't blind. Commitment without entreating, Two souls can forever bind. One day fast approaching I will be someone’s knight again. Without shame's reproaching, She will love me in the end. So, goodbye my love jilted. Peace and blessings to you. By your memory no longer guilted, My journey with you is through. Tomorrow a new day dawns With all promise abundantly. Such excitement it spawns Wrapped in splendored panoply.
