Poem

He arises from the underworld cloaked in black,
 Having two lifeless eyes peering at your unsuspecting back.
 Scythe gleaming from the reflection of the moon,
 The Grim Reaper is coming to claim your life very soon.

You go about your days thinking they will not come to an end,
 But the will of death no man can bend.
 With each passing moment he draws closer to your door,
 Soon your blood splattered body will be face down on the floor.

This bandit steals life with each and every day,
 Making families torn apart with nothing to say.
 He is known as the god of the dead,
 And he will be the one to hand you your eternal bed.

There is no escape from his lifeless hand,
 For he has complete dominion over this land.
 Can't you feel his breath on your neck?
 Know that to him you're nothing but an insignificant speck.

A speck who is destined to be washed away by the dark tide,
 So forget everything you know about your silly pride.
 You have nothing to take pride in,
 Oh foolish man who is full of sin.

If you give rightful praise to the bringer of doom,
 You will not have to be scared and filled with gloom.
 For he comes to take you out of this nightmare,
 And bring you to a place which is much more fair.

The sweet release of death he will bring,
 Oh reaper only for you do I sing.
 I will tell them of your just ways,
 Until you claim me on my final of days.
