Poem
A walking wounded called tonight Paralyzed by fear and fright. Memories pounded on her head Most nights she just wished she was dead. She had wandered down roads paved in blood And often got stuck in lifeless mud. She climbed mountains too big for her to climb And frequently raised up her surrender sign. She knew that God was for her but, never understood why When she gets overwhelmed, she begins to cry. She was tired of beginning again And asked me if I would be her friend. She battled demons from her past And reminisced on a childhood that left too fast. She was afraid that God would give up on her Because recently she was seeing life as one big blur. She longed for joy but only got sorrow But continued on the straight and narrow. She had a hard time receiving love Especially from God above. What will it take for her to see? That God will never let her be. What was God to do that he has not already done? After all he sent his only son. What can be said to lift her eyes? And destroy these earthy lies. When will she see herself the way we all do? A treasure from heaven who God for new. I left her with three simple words Which I know has been said but never been heard. Jesus loves you…. A Walking wounded can’t understand grace They can’t fathom why anyone would take their place. They live in regret, shame and fear They can’t comprehend that God is near. They never feel loved, unconditionally Their self-esteem is blurry. They constantly compare themselves to others And when someone is too kind they suddenly shutter. Only God can heal a walking wounded It takes time But, He has plenty of it. By: Sabina Nicole To all the walking wounded out there
