So there I was
Walking downtown by myself
While he was swimming in the bottle
Relishing the waves of discontent
                                                                Failure
                                                       Loss
                                                                Disappointing[me]
Pray Pray Pray
Let these sins, wash away
With just one more Swallow
The blood of his Almighty
Who will fix everything
In a while
Spilling over his mouth

Washing over his senses and sinking
All the way down at the bottom
Trying to find a message in that special hue
Of crimson
Making sure the last hint of bitterness
Stays on the tip of his tongue the next day 
Watching the gold on my wrists wash away
Fading to discolor
Fading to gray
Bangles that cease to jingle
With the closing of his eyes

Looking for love hidden in the shot glass

Somewhere

Listening to the clicking of  my
Nine West heels on the pavement
Outside, the lock turning
Backwards against the forbidden
The switch of the silk of my skirt
Clinging to my thigh, clinging to something
Timed to the rhythm of the pounding of the clock
Inside our hearts

Baby, what are you doing to yourself?

Even though what we do is wrong
We hustle until the sun comes up and the devil comes down
So turn off the lights
And listen to the allure,
Of losing our senses 
In the jaded game of life
Inside a million parallel reflections
Bouncing off the little bubbles he
Loves to drink
Clarified with the truth
Within our espresso eyes 

Just One More Swallow
Choking
On the words 
That being real is being smart
And being smart is being willing
To do what you got to do
Forgetting all tabernacle promises
To yourself and leaving your pride intact
