Poem
I rode Satan's steed through streets of Bedlam Hoping to break away from the bone carriage Chasing me from behind All around me the bones of civilization fractured And people sat with gaunt and ghastly faces Mirrors of the terror that lived in my heart The pounding of hooves on crumbling cement Were like the frantic beating of my heart As the clouds themselves dripped with blood Bedlam rested in the valley of darkness where all men walked A narrow line between damnation and salvation And here I was chasing that invisible line The collapsing arteries of empires sent cowards running Filling the streets of Bedlam with their wicked deeds Finding courage in the sight of Satan's steed They knew the man in phony white robes was no hero He was not the gallant white knight of fables But rather a trembling child shackled to fright The earth all around me was slowly decaying With skeletal tree branches reaching in desperation for Heaven Even as the trees themselves leaned closer and closer to Hell Once proud buildings had become dilapidated And people threw themselves into the carnage below Hoping that in sin was the seed of salvation All of these things pounded in my ears As the fear filled heart in my chest pumped adrenaline And I knew it was just a matter of time before Satan caught me I rode Satan's steed through streets of Bedlam Unable to break away from the bone carriage Catching me from behind
