Poem

My mom said she waited for her human to come back for her, but they never returned. A tear would sometimes appear in my mother's eye when she meowed about it. She never understood what she had done wrong. There was this one human near the tire pile I live in who is always throwing things at me and calling me horrible names. They even go so far as to make sure there is no water around or even the tiniest crumb of food. It gets so long in between having a drink or bite to eat, that when I do find something, it hurts to swallow. I just don't understand why humans treat me this way. I always try and wash myself, but there isn't much moisture on my tongue. I don't feel all alone though. I have seen humans who live outside, who have no food or clean clothes, or a place to live, who are also chased away and looked down on. I have even seen little humans live that way. One night the strangest thing happened. A bright star appeared in the sky and when I looked at it, I noticed that I felt like I was floating and found myself in the house of that human who tries so hard to scare me away. The next thing I knew, I was inside the human, and I'm guessing he was inside me because he looked in the mirror and arched his back up, hissed loudly, then ran out into the night. I myself looked in the mirror and noticed how large I was. There was no doubt in my mind that I had plenty of food and water! I walked out to a room that had a very large white box in it. It felt cold when I touched it. There was a long, silver bar on one side that I reached up and pulled on. It felt very odd standing upright, but it did make it easier to reach things. To my amazement when I opened the big white box, I saw stacks of all sorts of food. ( to be continued on part 3).
