Poem

I  AND MAMA
I left my footprints in the mud
The mud that was ooh so red 
That to my feet it stuck and...
It got my mummy oooh so mad.
But smile she had to at the end
Because into her life I rained… 
Lots of pure delight and fun.

I tilted up my face to the sky so blue,
And chased the butterfly across the flower gardens,
It dodged my hands and flew away 
But with laughter in my voice I kept chase
I didn’t catch it but I loved the chase
In the end I collapsed on the flowers and laughed so hard,
And mama watched from the window with a smile.

I stood inside and watched the rain,
But twas not fun to watch the rain I…
I wanted to catch the raindrops and hold them close,
But mama had already said no before,
So I sneaked outside while she took a nap,
I played with the crystal drops 
I danced in the rain and got all soaked up,
 I laughed and danced to my heart’s content 
Then I raced back to the house.

My mama she wore a nasty scowl,
I knew some tears would mix with the sweet rain,
I stood dripping like wet rag,
Did you grow an inch now that you are wet?
My mama asked as she caned my sorry behind,
Then she removed the wet clothes and gave me warm ones,
And as she tacked me in, that very night,
There was laughter in her voice as she kissed me good night
