Poem
I was born in the City of Angels with the Pacific Ocean within scent. This was a city of diversity and my home until my parents moved to the temperate forest gardens of Oregon with less diversity. Oregon and Los Angeles at the time were like oil and water so I was recognizably different from others, at least in thought. My grandparents had a great influence on me, and I believe that everyone strives to do their best for the environment they live in, and those who make an effort in life deserve a chance. I feel we forget that we are one people regardless of race or heritage. We bleed the same. I struggle with those who believe the end with justify the means; that is so not true, our journey in life matters, I feel some way we are responsible for one another. My journey to live has not been crowning, realizing that I made a lot of mistakes on my journey and I have tried not to repeat them. I believe just because I personally believe in something, it does not make me right and others wrong… I am open to other ideas as long they are pure and genuine, I can change my mind if it makes sense. I have trouble witnessing people taking advantage of others, and the same for those taking advance of systems. I was taught that honor and integrity are gifts, and once you lose them, they are lost forever. I have tried to live my life honestly with transparency and no hidden agendas. What you see is what you get, but I try to be open and reserve the right to change my mind if it makes sense. I am not always right, I still make mistakes As a parent, I tried to teach my children to be who they are. To be happy with life, and their career choices are theirs to make. Find a job where your passion leads you and you will be successful. It’s important to remember that being happy is being successful. I believe that all influences in life are opportunities to learn and grow, they are for a purpose and I try to separate those conflicting influences with respect for what they are. My belief is we should be able to choose how we live our lives, as long as one does not harm anyone or infringe on the rights of others...we are all responsible for our choices in the end. Most importantly, I believe in Jesus Christ and his philosophy of compassion, equality, inclusion, forgiveness, tolerance, peace, and most importantly love. I am still work in progress here living life with my best friend in life, my wife. Edward J. Ebbs - April 11. 2015 Inspired by a poetry contest, Bio of a Poet
