Time Marches On I don’t make too much noise As I sit quietly in my chair If I am quiet long enough They might forget I am even there It wasn’t always like this for me I was young and pretty one time Ah yes, back in those wondrous days When youthful time was all mine But time does march on New finally becomes the old It has happened since time began A story quite left untold I remember the gentleman caller Always polite and nice when he came He always brought flowers or candy And I coyly loved playing the game Ah yes, those were the days I quite hated their slow decline But time does march on And the new leaves the old behind And now the old has caught me My youthful days quite long gone I am left with glorious memories The last thing I have that is strong. I don’t make very much noise The wheels are locked on my chair I have been quiet long enough For I am no longer there I wonder when they will notice I have departed those old remains that still sit quietly in that chair No longer bound by earthly chains I have left that life behind And I am bound for heaven’s door Yes time does keep marching on But I don’t have to worry …anymore Connie Moore 1/16/14
