Poem
Sometimes, the worries that fester under the heat of the sun are softened by the glow of the moon. Sometimes, that deed done in daylight that we think has ruined our lives forever seems less devastating and more forgivable in the dark of night. Sometimes, troubles that tend to follow us around like the growing day’s shadow melt into the mixture of blackness that hides the whereabouts of singing crickets. And, sometimes, just when we think we can no longer face another day of mundane boredom, the midnight skies injects into us the energy to welcome another sunrise. I bid yesterday goodbye and let the darkening night erase my slate of recent events allowing the coolness that accompanies the moonlit skies to give me thoughts of tomorrow. I know each tomorrow, no matter the script it reads, will be replaced by another opportunity to lay under the starry canvas and contemplate what is in store for other tomorrows. Sometimes the day plays out like my dreams and sometimes the nightmare wins out, But, I always know there is an end in sight where I will have another encounter with night. by Joe Flach for Nette Onclaud’s “Into Night’s Dwelling” Contest created 1/3/2014
