Poem
Reborn She thought she knew who she was, But took a look again. Never aware of what she’d become, Now the present she has to mend. Total isolation, She felt alone on this Earth. Smothered by rejection, Not realizing her worth. She was torn, Her faith nowhere to be found. Thoughts imprisoned her, She felt in chains and bound. Giving up hope, she let it drag her down. Some realized, others couldn’t tell The pain she felt, the inspiration lost, The long way she had fell. Hiding under images, Staying clear of being true. Disguising her every motive, In everything she’d do. Everything seemed so far away, Fear enveloped her thoughts. She was caught up in the rain, For she gave up and never fought. It was harder to fight back, So she just gave in. She kept trying but failed. This war she thought she’d never win. Hitting rock bottom, There was no where else to turn. It was a hard lesson, But it had to be learned. She didn’t know where to turn, The wrong things she sought after. Her bliss and inner peace diminished. No more smiles, joy, or laughter. She was left ashamed, her soul unbound, But never was she broken. She stood alone in the dark, But looking beyond the shadows, herself she at last found. Seeing where she had come, She knew she had to find her way back home. No matter how long it took her And knowing she’d travel alone. No more conforming, No more hiding her true self. She will prevail. It’s time to quit looking back and set sail. She would make it on her own, No more excuses, she’d allow herself none. Though she is torn, She will now overcome. She sees beyond the shallow wall, Lifted her head from the grave. Will no longer believe what they say, But stand against them brave. Try and try to drag her down, She will not give in. Whatever you may say, She will rise and rise again. She won’t ever be shattered, Nothing is worth it. Through the sweat and tears, She’ll never conclude to quit. Being destroyed is not an option, Though she may fight alone she will endure. She can stand on her own, For this she will make sure. Somehow she will no longer be a victim. Someday she’ll find her way back home. She will stay strong and carry on, All upon her own. Freedom will at last come, When all is put behind. She will conquer this enemy That wants to ruin her mind. Times are trying, Encouragement is few. Yet the dawn is now breaking, For each day begins anew.
