Poem

Up in Maine lived an old frenchman
His name Louie Ledoux
Born and lived there all his life
A Mainer through and through

One day Louie heard a knock on his cabin door
He opened it to find two men he'd never seen before
Louie, one said, I've got some news, I'm afraid it isn't good
But when they drew state boundaries, they weren't put where they should

It seems they drew them too far south, about two hundred feet
It should be back up north of here where Maine and New Hampshire meet
So I've got to tell you, when the lines we do resight
You'll no longer be a Mainer, but a New Hampshireite

Louie thought a while then said “I guess that's not so bad”
When I think of all the wicked bad winters Maine has had
It could be a good thing now that I'm getting old
I hear that in New Hampshire, the winters aren't as cold
