I once loved you 
sweetheart, now I don't 
know what to think
You come knocking on my 
door from far 
across the sea
I see nothing I once knew as 
far as eyes can 
see
For you were once buxom, 
evergreen like a pine
Yes you were once noble, a 
citadel of mine.

I once loved you 
sweetheart, now I don't 
know what to think
Now you are thin as stalk of 
corn
Yes you look sick and so 
forlorn
Your skin was dark and 
once aglow
But now as pale as trampled 
snow.

I once loved you 
sweetheart, now I don't 
know what to think
Your hair once full, curly 
and black
Is now reddish, crying of 
lack
Your face once clear and 
filled with pride
Is now painted, wrinkled and 
dried.

I once loved you 
sweetheart, now I don't 
know what to think
Your nails once pink, all 
span and spick
Are now entombed in hard 
plastic
Your eyes once brown and 
round and bright
Are now deep green and 
dull as night.

I once loved you

know how I will
Your inborn charm that was,
