Dear Santa:  Hello to you, Mrs. Claus and all the elves.
I hope there are lots of toys for children upon your shelves.
As you can see, my list doesn't include a lot of toys this year.
I'd rather share with others my love and Christmas cheer.

I'd really like a bike, some books and maybe a game or two,
But if others are needy, take care of them - I'll leave that up to you.
The only thing I really want is my Grandpa, you see.
He died last September - can you bring him back to me?

At our Christmas table this year there'll be an empty chair.
My daddy is in the war - bring him home Santa is my prayer.
Be sure to visit all the mommies and daddies over there.
Hug each one of them for me and let them know I care.

You'll find some pennies from my piggy bank on the table.
It isn't much but I saved as many as I was able.
Maybe you can use them to lend a helping hand,
To buy food for hungry children in some faraway land.

Look on the table for your snack of soda, salami and cheese.
Leave something nice under the tree for my mommy please.
Merry Christmas and have a safe trip.  Your good friend, Billy Joe.
