Poem
Decades down to years Years down to months Months down to days Days down to hours Hours down to minutes Minutes down to seconds No matter what time it is or how long you've been alive You know at least one person or family that is on a dive When will this economy of ours hit a thrive We are in the passenger seat of this car No one behind the wheel because we are too scared to drive Let’s close our eyes and count to five Eyes opening...WATCH OUT!!! Almost falling off a cliff but we barley survive No matter how many close calls we encounter the car is forever moving We look out the windows and see the world as we pass by Are you the one who will stop and give your last dollar to a homeless guy They say the limit is the sky But when you’re poor with no food or money all you want to do is say bye Sitting there watching the news all I can do is cry Families being evicted from a place the call home Because the bank is worried about their own issues and can't even give them a $5 loan You’re on your high horse riding and parading through the land While that family you just evicted is looking for a place to stand This is called poverty meaning having little possession and money Yet the world around us is laughing Please fill me in on what's so funny Can you hear them crying They are on that corner you pass by on a daily basis Asking you for help As the struggle form day to day I’m gonna be on my knees and pray Hoping that the world will take the wheel of these peoples car But that’s like wishing upon a star They live in darkness through all the pain And yet we have the nerve to complain Trying to climb over this wall No one is their to catch them when they fall Is opening up your hearts such a long hall Why don’t you be their white little dove Or are you to busy trying on that new pair of gloves All I got to say is where is the love?
