Poem

Well, here's another fishing tale
But not about the one that got away
It's a tale about me and friend of mine
Who got stranded on the lake one day

Now, a friend of mine, called me one day
And said, "Hey, do you wanna go to the lake?"
Well, I was just itchin' to go fishin'
And this was just more than I could take

So when we finally got to the fishin' hole
We had more stuff than we could tote
When, that buddy of mine, had a stupid idea
He said, "Why don't we just rent a boat?"

Well, I said, "No, absolutely not"
And that's when he started to beg
He didn't care that I couldn't swim
Or that he only had one leg

He said, "Come on, you only live once,
Lets do it, what are we waiting for?"
You guessed it, we rented the last boat they had
With no motor, and it only had one oar

Well, now here we go, taking turns rowing
When we heard something start to squeak
We had no motor, only one oar
And now the boat had sprung a leak

Did you say life jacket?, nope, didn't have one
And don't forget, I didn't know how to swim
And this hair brained, knuckleheaded buddy of mine
Was also missing one limb

Now, how could things get any worse, right?
Well, dark clouds had started to form
Yep, you figured it out, I knew you would
We was in for one monster of a storm

Well, we started rowing as hard as we could
Trying to make it back to the shore
When, out of nowhere, the wind came up
And we didn't move forward, anymore

We wound up on this Island
Somewhere in the middle of the lake
Like the SS Minnow on Gilligan's Island
Just waiting for the storm to break

Well, we finally got rescued from the island
After the storm was finally through
I learned how to swim, and in case you're wondering
Every word of this story is true
