Poem

Have you seen the old woman shuffling down the big city sidewalk?  She comes from a 
different world privy to her and her suitors.
     She carries herself as elegantly as her squeaky wheeled walker will allow. An older 
styled but clean , polished purse hangs from her rolling companion aide.
     Her Highness has graced her court this day by wearing a long faded clean lavender gown 
with a frilly neckline flowing loosely down to her royal black sneakers.
     This ladies’ hair is combed and halos her dark brown face with a soft sheen. 
Her chin is raised slightly in a regal manner as if to show the silver choker and tarnished 
locket around her slim neck. If you ask her what it is, she’ll softly say a few words of her lost 
baby and a troubadour prince.
     She is obviously of royal blood in her world, but obvious as her royal bloodline 
is, her position at the top of her world is betrayed by lonely eyes as she surveys this one.
     Her majesty is queen of her world and is proud to be also a child of God. Please be reverent and say one for her as she shuffles stately by, gracing you with a slight nod and a 
wisp of a smile.
     You may steal one last look at her before she retires to her chambers under the old 
railroad bridge. 
     Admire her for she is true queen of her world of poverty and loneliness. Her 
very presence heralds it ..from her royal black sneakers to the neatly bobby pinned 
placement of her …Burger king crown.
