Poem

Today I look back in the darkness I once called my life
All the tears and hurting, all the pain and strife.
All the screaming and the yelling blocking up my ears
All the crap they put me through for oh so many years.
I begged and pleaded with my eyes for you to save my soul
But all you did was walk away into your little hole.
I looked so happy outside, but inside was crumbling down
You took my pleadings as a joke as if I were a clown!
My mind was spinning ‘round and ‘round as darkness was closing in
And all you did was sit there as if that were not a sin!
As I lay emotionally drained with no strength left inside
All you did was walk away in your room to hide!
And as I lay there on the floor with blood running down my face
The horrible feeling hit me that I’ll never get out of this place!
Then there came a day that would forever change my life
I didn’t realize then that no longer I’d have to fight.
Today I stand so tall and proud without the pain and strife
And I look at you and that big mess that you call your life.
You think this is bad just wait and see what’s up around the bend
You’re hurting now but start praying because this is not the end.
Yes God forgives and is merciful but what you did to me
God will punish in His due time just you wait and see.
