Poem
The sidewalk crumbles beneath the weight of digging hands Hands that are trying to find a meaning in something that has no such And in the mist we can only see what we want to see because we are only ourselves If only things could be a certain way; the way that is always pictured Sad to say that the picture is not framed, but withered and torn at the corners And sometimes, it’s only best to say goodbye and throw it away Although it is not wanted, it will always be because life is disordered and hypocritical No one helps with the fight, but only the distress and rage It only takes so much to look inside and find what you have forgotten about All one need’s is the courage and power Not time Not desperation Not reason Can you hear it? If only life were as simple as the sound of rain No worries No fear No loneliness Can you hear it? Listen Listen to the rain To life But the rain always brings out the worms, when the rain is gone They shrivel up and dry out Maybe they can’t find their way back to the dirt Or perhaps they would like to end it too And the wind sweeps me off my feet, just the way you wish you could do But you sweep nothing but the dirt off the floor In the end we were still alone Still left to cry unheard by anyone We were still left Still alone Sometimes you have to understand why others say goodbye No one shows up to the movie of our lives Only because the marquee misspelled our names Our faces go unnoticed, unfamiliar Even to the mirror Yet we still play the film Where I want to be the damsel in distress And you the hero, with the happy ending But we have to remember…it is only fiction My dear, prepare to sink So don’t hold your breath for long Because we’ve been going down all this time Don’t look so surprised It was only to be expected that this time would come Sweetheart, it’s time for me to go This is a good time for you to learn how to say goodbye And keep it in mind February 18, 2009-November 24, 2009
