Wipe away the tears and listen to the voice – of a heart who knows, love is the only choice ~ by author Tears didn’t come when I first heard The words of this illness, so absurd When a tumor is found, the light stills Because we all know a fear that kills Tears weren’t wiped away until I prayed Jesus answered even though I was afraid He told me to never listen to the voice of fear Because He has the answers, makes things clear Tears didn’t come that very first day They were waiting for love to convey Assurance that kindles a hope and reason With Jesus there is love to fill each season Tears weren’t the first answer for me Instead I felt His touch as I bent my knee He is here to show us that love will make a way Whatever comes, for us, He has the final say Tears didn’t come until I remembered what love has done He brought the heart a second chance with His only Son He saved the sinner who was destined for the worst place Changed a life so that they’d be freed by His amazing grace Tears weren’t the first thing to fall against the ground First I knew the touch of the One who love has crowned And I felt the joy of knowing whatever comes to me With Him, there is the promise that I’ll forever be free! Tears didn’t come when I heard the words so feared They came to my eyes when the smoke had cleared And I remembered that this love I feel inside my heart Is a love that my Savior stirred from the very start Tears weren’t the answer, though they stung my eyes They were the relief from a heart who He baptized The tears told a story of a longing for God’s very best Even though, through this illness, we’re put to the test Tears didn’t come when I first heard the word ‘tumor’ They clung to my soul, leaving the doubtful rumor Only time will tell what Jesus has in store for you and me I know, whatever comes, LOVE has caused me to truly see!
