Poem

In the beginning, he was a dream,  
A perfect blend, or so it seemed.  
With every wish, he’d swoop and save,  
A knight in shining armor, oh so brave.  

“Where have you been?” I’d sigh and swoon,  
As he’d conjure up my heart’s cartoon.  
A band-aid for a paper cut?  
He’d bring a pharmacy, no ifs or buts.  

“Need a snack?” he’d ask with glee,  
And return with a feast fit for a king and me.  
He’d read my mind, my every thought,  
A perfect partner, or so I thought.  

But then we wed, and oh, the twist!  
His true colors emerged, a plot I missed.  
The charming smile turned into a frown,  
As he tossed my dreams like a worn-out gown.  

“Did you want dinner?” he’d ask with a yawn,  
While I stood there hungry, feeling withdrawn.  
The band-aids turned to excuses and sighs,  
As I watched my perfect prince wear a guise.  

“Where have you been?” I’d ask once more,  
But the answer echoed from a distant shore.  
He’s still the man who knows my needs,  
But now he’s planting some darker seeds.  

So here we are, in this twisted play,  
Where love’s a game, and I’m the prey.  
A dark comedy, this life we share,  
With laughter and tears, and a hint of despair.  

So raise a glass to the perfect facade,  
To the man who’s both a blessing and a fraud.  
For in this tale of love and strife,  
I’ve learned the truth about married life.
