What can wash away my sin, Nothing but the blood of Jesus I’m a product of perfection yet this love written in red doesn’t always feel free I have never felt worthy, only dirty, so I wear shame like my favorite shirt No peace for my soles only pain-stained footprints Because my ancestors are still bleeding and one of the bullets was from me God brought me, from Egypt but I still go back to visit like it’s home Comfortability is a house not a home Conclusion I feel alone, with you right next to me No truth, I left my belt at home, Why do I only carry my sword on Sundays Eternal Armor, I keep giving expiration dates Because at times my dates mean more than the date love became a color painted by sacrifice My years, wasted as I traded my spirit for flesh My fears, feel like the only friend I have at times My tears feel heavier than most like this recycled sin Scriptures read the blood flushes out the mud Cup runneth over the fountain but I haven’t found Him Because I still see bloody tears as pain not salvation Be doers of the word not hearers So I ask what can wash away my sin ? As I remember: Nothing but the blood of Jesus Then I rest in His peace and bathe in His love His love is patient, always waiting for me to come back to him no matter how late I am His love is kind, a grace extends from the ends of the earth to space I am not my own, bought with a price, check my tag, too expensive to pop that Royal blood, because my Dad is from heaven where we really bout that A family tree where my 1 branch is just as important as the 99 that make up the shade from the vine So, I dine with my enemies just like he taught me with no fear of Judas Justice is your vengeance not my revenge, I pray I binge more on your word than the script of the world I’ve learned that I’m still not worthy but not because of guilt, no because of your holiness I’ve learned we are one so I’m a holy mess, sharing my testimony with the assist from you I’ve learned strength and healing come from you, so if I don’t get to know you, I’ll never know what it feels like to watch the storm in slow motion as I walk on water untouched Unbothered, the way my faith shakes the norm but never rattles me Unfiltered, the way you never filter the past For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son Just so a few thousand years late I could look up at the sun and feel the love with no need to run A love built from everything you must breathe A love written in red is the one color the blind can see Deeper than every sea, His tears provide rain just when it is needed for the eternity of earth Heaven is just a tomorrow away so stay focused on today His love never lets go even when you reject him to go, Astray Can you even fathom something so pure you feel dirty but He is willing to touch your rags Just like his mother once blotted salvation into rags that bleed into forever so happily ever after never looked the same A covenant of love p.s. thank you Jesus for loving me…
