Poem
She Couldn't Take It Anymore College was supposed to broaden her horizons After the second year, she dropped out Fell into the hands of a man Who took her virtue against her will She was a student in his class Overnight her world was torn apart After months of silence, she couldn't cope She packed her bags to run away From the hunter that laid a trap She went home and faced more pain Her heart ached and her stomach churned There were her parents putting her down Pointing fingers at her throwing away life If only they knew of her baby And the depression she was going through At twenty she had bills piling up With no means of paying them off There's no job, no support, no future Only the four walls of her dark room That harbored her sinking ship of life Often starring off into the dark space Seeking a way out of this abyss The waves of voices in her head Washing along the shores of her heart The pain deepening yet wanting to end She's on the water's edge looking in Days dwelled into weeks, both babies crying She lights a candle in the dark She sees a shadow of herself jump As the four walls are closing in For the last time, she sees him Naked and on top, beating her bad Her cries to stop speeding his thrill There’s pools of blood covering the sheets She blows out that candle and prays Bless me Father I tried my best She gather herself for the last time Tears in her eyes as she leaves She looks at her parents waving goodbye But they’re not there, only the darkness She begins the walk towards the ocean life is so unfair you cross the road on green lights and someone hits you connie pachecho 2/17/25
