Do you believe in aliens?
I do.
Not the type that are green 
with big black eyes and tentacles,
But the ones that are just like you and me
They sit imprisoned in classrooms
And worry about bleaching their hair
And if red lipstick will match their dress
And where their next meal will come from.
A normal life on a normal planet
In another galaxy.

My first crush
Was the neighbor’s son
Honestly, he was pretty.
He had milk coffee skin
And almond toffee eyes.
His hair was poppy seed black
With curls like Arby fries.
I remember that he played guitar
And was three years older than me
But I don’t remember 
His name.

If chemists ever decided to take over the world
It would be terrifying.
Chemists know how to blow up
Normal items. Like flour.
Chloroform is one of the
Less dangerous chemicals
In the stock room.
They are pyromaniacs
Who are allowed to 
Set things on fire.
And they do.

The darkness in the countryside terrifies me.
I am a city girl who has never seen
The stars so clearly
Because the street lights
Shine brighter than
The moon in the sky.
I’m 23 and I need a nightlight
Because I am not used to the 
Endless Void that is my bedroom.
Pathetic right?

I know you are reading this text
And I know you won’t respond.
