Line of inquiry: “we look for that light eternal that does not come and go the screen upon which life plays cognised in staid stillness slow” Oh, Jesus, you are the Light of the world. A light that lights all other lights, pooled. The sun’s sparkle or the moon’s silver gleams, Can come nowhere near your shining beams. Stars parade in the sky igniting the dark night. But their light is never a match to the brightest light. All other lights are but adjuncts of Him They come and go and eventually grow dim. When from my life, steadily ebbs out each day, When hope grows dim and joys pass away, When darkness deepens, Oh Jesus as light in me, abide. I pray- “Never let me drown in trial’s rising tide. Oh Jesus, the light of the world, piolet me, Chart my path, I look hopefully upon Thee Lead me, Oh blessed one, to your glory bright Lead me through gloom into clear light!” Only by focusing on that eternal light, We become aware how our lives in stagnation blight. As His light flashes on life’s big screen Many of our wicked deeds come to be seen. When I begin to live in Him, I am no longer blind The light from Him will illumine my mind As long as I look into that light, I will be okay I know, my path will be lit by his brilliant ray. Sometimes amid scenes of deepest gloom, His light helps my hopes sprout and bloom. I shall sing of his glory from morn to night, For He lights my path and is my heart’s delight. May our light shine, helping others in their needs That they may glorify God seeing our good deeds. When we live in Him, we are children of light And never will be lost in the darkness of night.
