Poem
In quiet moments, I reflect on shadows of my past, Pondering the choices made, the lessons learned at last. Each day I face the echoes of those I let down, In my pride, I forged my path, yet wore a heavy crown. My flesh led me in circles, tripping on my own despair, Now I gaze upon my choices, heavy burdens that I bear. Karma’s ledger calls my name, debts stacked high in regret, A haunting reel of wrongs replayed, a truth I can’t forget. One fear clings to my spirit: this awakening might fade, So I pray to rise above the old ways I once laid. Yet temptation scratches softly at the door of my resolve, Whispering of failures past, reminding me to dissolve. But I’ve faced my demons, and their worn-out song I know, With faith as my foundation, I refuse to fall below. It’s easy to slip back into shadows of my old design, Yet the light within me shines, a strength that’s truly mine. The greatest gift I’ve found is the essence of my soul, A solid ground for living, a purpose to make me whole. God’s signs were all around me, yet I turned a blind eye, It took the loss of everything to finally hear the cry. My father warned of stubborn ways, of paths that lead to pain, His wisdom fell like raindrops, but I poured it down the drain. Sometimes I wonder, if I’d chosen a different route, Would my parents still be here or would I be without? Yet I must embrace the past, for it cannot be undone, The choices that I make today, their legacy lives on. In every step I take, I hope they see me rise, Hoping now they’re proud of me, while in the afterlife. So here I stand in solitude, with lessons carved in stone, A journey filled with heartache, but so much of me has grown. In the tapestry of life, I weave a brighter thread, With love and hope as guiding stars to the road ahead.
