Jesus May Save but God Certainly Kills How many people did Satin kill? We don’t know and never will. But we do know of many that God has killed. Entire populations’ death he fulfilled. Kill them all, God would command. The Israelites obeyed and did what God Planned. Excuses given, we’re told so many. But never a good one although they are plenty. The Passover story is known to all. Blood on the doorpost so God would not maul, The Hebrew first born but everyone ignores, The Egyptian babies killed by the scores. What a God! The Egyptian army following behind? God killed them because He was so inclined. What a God! Sodom and Gomorrah, cities of the plain, Totally destroyed, God could not abstain, From total destruction of the land, Only because of a local band, Of men? What a God! Amalekites, Canaanites, He ordered all dead. God couldn’t just move them, a nod of His head? And when Saul allows one to survive, God chastises Saul who would no longer thrive. What a God! And of course, we have the flood of Noah, Killing humans as well as all Metazoa. That which was created was no longer good. Wipe it all out, God said He would. And He did. Sacrifices galore, so many animals killed, Because God liked the smell and felt fulfilled, By the odor of the burning meat, Which to His nose, the smell was sweet. What a God! And then there’s Job, whose life was destroyed, By the will of God because the Adversary annoyed, Him. And why torture Job? All for a bet? Would an omniscient god need to fret? What a God! Wherever we look, In the Holy Book, We find God’s gifts come at the price, Of killing people or sacrifice. The very land given by God, Involved genocide but given a facade, Of being a gift but what a cost, To Amalekites and Canaanites, a holocaust. God is great and just love in heaven? Not according to Isaiah 45:7
