Poem
Once upon a time in a land of old, was a magical calendar, amazing to behold. It sat on a shelf, mysterious and rare, with the power to gaze into the future's lair. People from far and wide would gather ‘round to witness its wonders, their hearts did pound. But be warned, its predictions may seem strange, no one could anticipate how their life would change. The calendar predicted with a hint of glee, their fates and fortunes for all to see. But rather than fear what lay ahead, people embraced the twists life would spread. A fisherman in town, with rod in hand, checked the calendar on golden sand. His luck revealed with such amusement and mirth: "You'll catch your dinner but not on this Earth!" A baker entered, flour on his coat's sleeve, hoping for guidance so he wouldn't deceive. The calendar chuckled as it whispered his plight: “Your loaves will rise high as if taken flight." A young girl named Rose, dreams twinkling in her eyes, searched for answers beneath the starry skies. The calendar smiled softly and spoke with such thrill: "You'll find true love climbing up life's highest hill." The townsfolk laughed at the calendar's tricks, but each prediction hit them like well-aimed bricks. They embraced the uncertainty, eager to explore, And life became richer where it was once a bore. For in this world of magic and surprise, we learn to cherish each moment with wiser eyes. The calendar may bring laughter or tears, yet it still guides us through our fleeting years. Taking a moment to celebrate this enchanting gift, our antics and spirits, it truly does lift. The magical calendar, a treasure untold, in this journey called life, it's worth more than gold. *I wrote this poem on January 18, 2024, as part of a ’30 days of poetry’ January challenge. This was day 18 and the prompt was: Write a poem about a magical calendar that predicts the future. I actually wrote two of them similar in style and message. The other one is posted under “Death’s Mischievous Prophecy.”
