Poem
Your frustration is bubbling over the pot I see it, but I’m not sure how to turn the anger off Arguing is such a turn off We're headed home from dinner with the music from the radio fading away because your steaming thoughts are invading the space and turning it off Then the flood gates open and I'm not strong enough to close it off Her: they got my salad wrong... I wanted a different dressing and something more tropical than Cesar Him: So, why didn't you tell the waiter the order was wrong Her: I didn't want to inconvenience them Him: So, why complain about the order Her: Because everything is out of order, you couldn't see that Him: See what? Her: The appetizer threw off my whole meal and mood Him: You could have asked for something else Her: I shouldn't have to ask Him: Well... Her: Exactly, let me guess, you have nothing to say? Him: Umm... Her: I just want things to be perfect Him: Nothing is perfect Her: Well, we should be Him: Huh, what do you mean we? It's not about the salad she sighs with a depth that floats under my feet The ground is uneasy Her: I was just really excited for tonight and it didn't go the way I wanted it to Him: Well, the nights not over yet Her: It was over before we left the house because I messed up my makeup, I couldn’t find the blouse I wanted to wear, my hair was being my hair and wouldn’t do what I wanted, these heels are hurting my feet I was exhausted before we had a chance to relax Him: I'm sorry how can I help, you want me to make you a salad when we get home, I chuckle Her: It's not about the salad, ugh I wish you were a little more compassionate to my emotions Help me get through the day by wrapping your arms around me and tell me it's ok Wipe my fiery tears away with your fire hydrant kisses Hold my hand and hold me tighter Him: Where is this coming from, I feel like I do all those things Her: I want you to do it more, you should be able to match my mood swings Him: Ok I said with hesitation creeping up the neck Your glare has its hands around my neck I can't breathe but you keep talking out the side of your neck Too worried about the salad to see our full course meal p.s. close mouths don't get fed, or so they say...
