Memories in boxes By lady Arabella As I sit here and go through all the boxes I’ve made Each one holds a memory which time cannot fade From old school reports that showed all I could be To lessons learnt at times when red flags I couldn’t see From cards of love and poems of sorrow From past , to present and things of tomorrow Each picture , each item, each card , each gift or each moment I’ve saved Holds memories of who I was , who i am and the path I’ve now paved How far I’ve come , the ups and downs I’ve endured Put away in boxes , frozen in time and then stored At the age of 7 I would dance and took exams for tap , jazz and ballett Go on great holiday to Skegness with my family in a chalet At the age of 8 teachers said I took lead on discussion and knew how to communicate Hard working and popular , determined to try ,improve and never late They also said i was very talkative and needed to learn when to speak As there approval at times during lessons I did not seek At the age of 9 I had my first poem published in the local news Was excited each year as I got new kickers as school shoes At the age of 10 I became a member of tameside crucial crew That’s around the time I played football for a boys team too At the age of 11 I moved to Fairfield high school for girls Had frizzy hair and embraced my natural curls By the time I was 12 I was playing football for my schools team And Training with tameside school of excellence and young enough to dream By 13 I was awarded pupil of the week and my fav subject was history Listening to the radio , or my hand held Walkman obviously the station was kisstory By 14 I was achieving academic awards at the end of year in ceremonies which took place For progress in religious studies and mathematics once I decided to up the pace By the age of 15 I became a peer counsellor and prefect Oh and got bullied how could I forget By the time I left I exceed expectations got 1 A* , 3As , 3 Bs 4Cs and 1 D Resistant materials what use is that anyways, see the point is I’ve got memories in boxes which marks each place In this life of mine Each one represents my timeline I often reflect and look back to see how far I’ve come How I could have been just anyone But I’m not I’m me and there isn’t anyone the same And my memories in boxes remind me that, even if it’s lame! My friend is right somethings I don’t need to hold onto Regardless with who As some of those people are now part of my past Not everything is made to last So as I clear out my boxes and throw things away It’s to make more room for new memories as tomorrow is more than today It’s time to say goodbye to things I once held close As they no longer mean the most
