for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you:
God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands.

God can put a mark on someone for different reasons. 
The scripture tells us about the mark which God put on forehead of Cain after killing Abel. 
Which physical stuffs Lord used to mark on Cain?
Who could see the mark on the robe and thigh of Christ Jesus which was written: King of kings and Lord of lords?  
Christ Jesus used the finger of God to drive out demons, which name of the finger could be that? 
How many people put different marks(signs) on their bodies because of misunderstanding of the scriptures? 
Who has eyes to identify the mark of the real beast on some people on earth? 
the antichrists made  lots of physical  (marks) signs
 to create fear and capture many people. 
some people focus on physical things 
while claiming to be spiritual. 
God is Spirit, 
did He tell some people to represent Him with some signs
( marks) and other things? 

Some people live with different false imaginations  
which are deep misperceptions
from the antichrists.
