Inflation
What’s going to become of us my dear
The cost of living’s filling me with fear
No using the cooker, it costs too much
Can’t heat our rooms up as we’ll become bust.

It’s not how I desired that we should live
How has life on earth come to such as this 
Food is essential not just for pleasure
So is a warm home in the cold weather.

We're approaching the winter of our days
I had hoped we’d be well blessed for always
They do say that love keeps one warm and snug
Cold and hunger’s no recipe for love.

I vowed to love you for better or worse
But who can survive with an empty purse
We must endeavour to tighten our belts
Abstaining same as most everyone else.

I'm so lost for words of comfort sweetheart
If I could I'd stop things falling apart
They say the price we pay for love is grief
Inflation is thief of one's sleep relief.
