Another year has gone by
So much has changed
Yet it is as if nothing has
Around the clock
It’s been heartbreak hours
Around the clock
Somehow this one hit the most
There is absolutely no going back from this
All of it has been done and said before
Nothing is by surprise
Even the autumn leaves are not falling at this point
As much as I want them to
No remedies
No sugar high no more
All that’s left in my mouth is
The bitter aftertaste of something burnt and rotten
Frail and crumbling to the touch
Slipping away from me
Give too much and too much has been taken
Making stock from the same bone
Until there is no more umami
Nothing left no more
Always a part of the scene
In the spotlight
At my best
Nowhere to be seen
At my worst
Lurking
In the shadows
It’s not me
It’s you
Hours of humiliation
They humble me
This is the last time
This clock strikes five
No more
As I kick it down the marble floors
No more
Powdered gold can’t even fix what was broken
Beyond repair
There are no more black or white
Not even lines of gray
Nothing left
Nothing more
