Poem

Farmer and Mrs Brown

Farmer Brown came out of the cornfield on a moonless October night
He was dressed in bloodied overalls, wearing a smile that wasn't quite right
He carried in his left hand what appeared to be a knife
And in his right hand, oh my Lord, it looked like the head of his wife

He stumbled towards me as I stood in paralyzing utter fright
calling to me "please don't be scared even though I'm a horrible sight
You and Mrs Brown were friends so I give to you her head
And if by now you hadn’t realized she is very, very dead”

He smiled his not- quite -right smile, a glint of madness I caught in his eye
as he turned to go he shouted “ all witches do eventually die
I've known her secret for some time and tried to live with it
But Mrs Brown being what she was my conscious would not permit”

But unbeknown to poor Farmer Brown, his missus was more than my friend 
it's a fact I'm sure he never knew, and couldn't possibly comprehend
we belonged to the same coven, blood sisters you could say
and what he did to his missus has caused me sorrow and dismay

Nearing the cornfield he had a feeling he wasn't alone anymore
He couldn't quite shake the feeling of terror that shook him right to his core
As he burst into flames and cinders, falling to the ground
I called to him “I guess you didn’t realize we witches will always abound”
