Ponderings on my 60 th Birthday! On this my 60 th year I have gained a few new insights that can only come with age and experience. I do find it surreal that 60 years have passed so quickly. The latter years go faster it seems! I remain optimistic that the best is yet to come! I have learned that although it is good to have routines and structure for a day, it is best to always leave room for flexibility and change. Some of the best surprises and gifts are when you allow for flexibility or last-minute plans. It is best not to be too rigid. Be open to possibilities!! The need for perfection can be an enemy to the soul! One can never quite achieve it and it is best not to strive for it, it can lead to great dissatisfaction and frustration in oneself and others! Strive for excellence and the best but let go of perfection! I have learned that you cannot control anything or anyone. Live and let live! I have learned to let go of fear and anxiety! They just destroy your peace and well-being! I have realized great relief by giving it over to God and letting it go! Aches and pains will come in your 60th year but nothing lasts forever. Enjoy the good days to the fullest and accept what you can’t change! It is important to find purpose and be productive if you can be. Do everything to the best of your ability! God gives everyone talents and abilities and therein lies your purpose. Find joy in what you do daily. If it does not bring you joy, maybe its not for you! Relish the unconditional love of your pet! They can teach you how to love better. Learn what really matters and let go of the rest! Avoid drama and gossip, they whittle away at your sanity. Time is precious so try not to waste too much of it on such things! Let go of anger quickly and forgive easily over and over. I have learned that many things can be answered by google! Take advantage of such great technology as it has never been easier to find answers to puzzling questions. I googled why do seagulls stand on one leg? I challenge you to google this for yourself Always be curious and question things! Think for yourself and do not allow others to control how you think! Creativity of any kind is good for your soul and well being! It is never a waste of time! With practice, anything can get better! Try to achieve balance in all that you do! I have learned that you must find things to be passionate about otherwise boredom sets in. It is good to find Godly contentment in all that you do. It gives you peace within that radiates to those that need this peace! The beach is always a place of serenity and can give you a sense that the world is right even if there is surrounding turmoil. It is always good to realize that you can give to others no matter how poor you feel! There is a theory that as you give sacrificially it is given back to you in tangible ways. Always remain grateful and you will always have enough and be content! Gratefulness is the secret to beat the blues. When you are grateful, you are happier! Always fight for a better day, a better world, injustices to cease! Do not strive as it just makes you tired! There is always hope, no matter how bleak things can look! Lastly, God is always on your side and has a good plan for your life! He wants the best for you! This is what I learned in these 60 years so far. September 21, 2022(my 60th birthday)
