remember when we first met
you were so frightend alone
in mourning and so sad
i offered you my hand 
in friendship
and away you ran

as time went by
we grew closer
and before we knew it
were best of friends

we laughed and we cried
we even laughed til we cried
then one day i looked down
and there it was... a rock
the most perfect heartshaped rock

that is when it happened
you know that feeling
like you are turning inside out
and you can barely breathe
thats the one

without thought
i gave you that rock
said i was giving you my heart
and without thought 
you so gracefully took it

oh the look in your eyes 
as i handed that rock to you
just melted me inside
cuz that's when i knew you
you felt it too

could it be
the angels put 
it there for me
cuz the power i felt
in such a little rock
had to come from up above

so as we live our lives 
together every glorious day
i'm reminded of 
that lil heartshaped rock
i found for you that day

just like that rock
my heart is full 
of pits and scars
but the love it contains
is eternally yours

so put it up for safekeeping
for you see even a rock
left out in the open
can tend to wither away
but in the shelter of your love
me and my rock are here to stay
