Poem

There is art in madness
Brushstrokes on faces
And gold in men’s hands

There is horror in masses
Greed in classes
And tears in blinded eyes

There is wrong in doing right
Fear in willing to fight
And shame alone at night

There is harm in questioning
Pride in reckoning
And disappointment on Sunday morn

Verily as I fall
Inside of me I call 
Still waiting for an answer

I seek the knowledge of truth
Knowing that there’s no use
Locked in this earthly cage

I wish to believe as a fool
Deny the mortal rules
And gain gifts of the spirit again

To learn it’s not in the works
Or in the pages of books
But hidden inside of me

I must get out of my way
Remember how to pray
And not lie to the ones I seek

Maybe my salvation
And the truth of my frustration
Depends on the success of the buzzers I ring

To sacrifice myself
To those I wish to help
And abandon all that is me
