" She Gently Touched A Soldier " The little girl watched the soldiers as they marched along the street so skinny, dirty and tattered she had no shoes on her feet. Her long hair was all tangled and her face was wet with tears this poor child has seen more misery than I will ever see in years. She Gently Touched a Soldier when he came marching by I heard her asking him questions that made me want to cry. She looked up to this soldier please help me understand what good is a war of death please tell me if you can. I've searched and got no answers all around this troubled land I had to watch my mother die while she tightly held my hand. I watched the bombs begin to fall there is no safe place we could be I prayed to God in Heaven above because I know that he loves me. Do you really know how much it hurts when our daddies have to march away we have to watch our mommies as they sit to cry and pray. Do you know about the nightmares that we suffer through each night you are killing little children and you know that its not right. Do you ever say you are sorry for us kids we are the ones who die young prematurely for what you grownups have done. Please tell me how to make it stop just take this war away can't you see we are just kids who want to run and play. I am sorry mister soldier I did not want to be a pest but these questions I have to ask to get them off my chest. Now mister soldier I must let you go to fight and kill some more today one more thing I want to ask before you must march away. I picked these little flowers all that I could find please give them to my daddy he is farther down the line. Please say his daughter loves him as she crys for him each day may God be with you mister soldier please be careful and I'll pray...
