Poem
She is enclosed in his makeshift hourglass he has buried her within surrounded by grains of sand that trickle past She is immobilized as she tries to see through the pain of her tears, but her vision is blurred by the smeared glass that she has smudged with her rising fear What did she do to deserve this? She only wanted his love to last, but instead he enclosed her here behind this wall of glass Before he slipped her through the opening, he seductively kissed her lips, and told her that she will always be with him for as long as the time exists But once the sands diminish through the thin walls and reach their resting place, as will her memory to him as it will vanish without a trace He has no need to flip it over after all their time has come to an end, so now that the sand has settled so has her heartbeat within It was a slow death, one that she did not deserve, but he wanted her all to himself but only in the way that for him it would work He couldn’t be with her, not in the way that she wanted him to, so he killed her slowly and watched her die until the time was through Now he has a constant reminder, a sadistic trophy on display, of the woman that once loved him in a glass contraption, in all of her nakedness surrounded by time that slipped away Sometimes he dreams of turning it over just to watch as the grains slip past, the curvature of her body within the looking glass But he dares not disrupt the beauty that he chose to create, because perfection happens once in a lifetime, and he already sealed her fate He is afraid that if he touches the fragile glass then it may possibly break, and he couldn’t bear to lose the girl in the hourglass that to him is nothing but a reminder of a mistake he wishes he never made.
